June 2016 BSB Soldier of the Month

The Backstreet Boys Soldier of the Month is back after a short vacation and this month, our spotlight is on Andie, a Canadian Kevin girl who decided at the very last minute last month to take the trip of a lifetime on the 2016 Backstreet Boys cruise.

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself:

I'm a Libra who was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec (Canada). I moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan (Canada) for my husband and his work. We have a pug named Bedouin, but we call him Bedu for short.

During the day, I work as a corporate and bankruptcy paralegal (if you watch the show 'Suits'- think of what Rachel Zane does). When I'm not drafting legal documents, conducting research or keeping in touch with my clients; I can be found at the bar, smoking hookah or a cigar on our balcony and during the NFL season, in front of the tv screaming. In my spare time, I also help run a Kevin fan site on Facebook called Kev's Place (check us out!).

2. What is your favorite BSB memory?
I struggled with this question! There are simply too many things to list, but this one still makes me choke up.

Kevin had promised to tweet me a congratulatory message when I got married. He asked me to remind him, every time that I saw him. A week after our civil ceremony, I got off of a flight and saw that my phone was blowing up. Even though the message was short and sweet, I cried all the way to my hotel. The cab driver thought I was crazy when I explained to him what was happening.

 3. What is your favorite BSB song and why?
My all-time favourite song is We've Got It Goin' On. It was the first song I ever heard. Their voices sucked me in.

Upon hearing the song for the very first time, my friend's mom drove us to HMV to pick up the album. She allowed us to skip dance class that night and paid for 3 copies. Once the cassette was in my hands, I looked down at the front cover and saw Kevin...there was no going back at that point.

4. What is your favorite BSB video and why?
It's most definitely The Call. I know it gets a bad rep given AJ's history with addiction, but I love how dark it is. My best friend and I were fortunate enough to get to see Kevin's costume in person before it was put behind glass at the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame. I can tell you that the jacket weighed a ton and that the man has a really small waist.

5. How has BSB impacted your life?
I suffered a dark patch in my life that lasted a couple of years (health issues, dropping out of college, and an extremely toxic relationship- just to name a few). I can honestly say that the BSB got me through all of the days where I wanted to throw in the towel. Their lyrics and own personal stories of overcoming adversity gave me the courage to keep on fighting.

6. What is your favorite thing about being a BSB fan?

All of the awesome people that you get to meet and all of the cool places that you get to visit. You don't really need to see the boys in 4 different cities, but hey, it's a good excuse to see the world and your friends. The BSB army is most definitely like a second family to me and I wouldn't trade them for anything in the world.
