Backstreet vs Big Time Rush — Carlos’ confessions…

It’s the battle of the boy banders as Nick continues to compete against Big Time Rush’s Carlos PenaVega on Dancing with the Stars!
But while the ballroom showdown continues, behind the scenes the pair are finding out just how much they have in common.

In a recent episode, Carlos, 26, opened up about hitting rock bottom due to the struggles of tour life, and he now hopes to sit down and chat with Nick about his own rocky experiences with fame and on the road.

“I think Nick and I are finally getting to a place where we’re actually like friends, which is cool for me because I’m a huge Backstreet Boys fan,” says Carlos.

“I would love to sit down and talk about how their experiences were. Tour life brings all the craziness and we all experience it differently. Whoever tells you that tour life isn’t crazy [is wrong].
“And whoever is around you affects what it becomes, so I’d be really curious to hear what they went through.”

A huge BSB fan, Carlos says his favorite track is ‘I Want It That Way,’ but confesses when it comes to the Backstreet vs *NSYNC debate, he isn’t quite on our team.

“I’m a huge fan, so it’s so cool to be on this show with him. Literally during the [‘Backstreet’s Back’] performance, I was upstairs singing along going, ‘This is the best night ever!’

“But I gotta say, I love *NSYNC. I’m just saying… *NSYNC was my number one.”

While we could have aborted the interview at this point, we commend Carlos for his honesty.

And his revelations didn’t end there.
He admits that he’s a bit of a control freak and since partnering up with 22-year-old pro Witney Carson, has struggled to let her run the show every week.

“I’m learning a lot about myself on this show – about what I can handle and pushing myself, but also how to give other people the reigns.
“That’s something I don’t do really well, so Witney’s walking me through that. It’s tough because she’s younger and I feel like I’ve done more in life and know more, but at the same time this is her expertise, so I have to let her take the reigns and I’m learning to do that.”

So who would Carlos rather see win the Mirrorball trophy – himself or his wife and fellow competitor Alexa?

“If we can just make it to that final show it means we’ve made it all the way together and I’m happy with that. That’s my goal.

“Honestly I’d rather her win. Happy wife, happy life.”
Okay Carlos, you win back some brownie points with the Backstreet Army for that…
